Food & Wine

Hawke’s Bay is New Zealand’s oldest and second largest winemaking region. Hawke’s Bay also has a very strong food scene with many excellent restaurants, abundant fresh local produce, farmers’ markets and a strong artisan food scene. It’s less than a 20-minute drive from Millar Road to each of Napier, Hastings and Havelock North.

Four fantastic winery restaurants are close at hand: Terrôir at Craggy Range, Black Barn Bistro, Clearview Estate and Elephant Hill. And there are many other cafés, bars and restaurants in and around Napier and Hastings. We provide a regularly updated one-page guide to the best of Hawke’s Bay for you to take on your travels around the area.

A chilled bottle of Millar Road's organic estate wine ‘The Supernatural’ wine awaits you when you arrive. We established Supernatural Wine Co. in 2009 to produce certified organic, naturally vinified, low sulphur white and skin-fermented white ('orange') wines exclusively from the Millar Road estate. Our philosophy relies on great terroir and traditional processes and our aim is to produce world class wines, naturally and organically.

We provide generous locally-sourced breakfast supplies on arrival and each accommodation is stocked with essentials such as freshly-roasted coffee beans, a selection of gourmet teas, salt, pepper, sugars and locally-produced Village Press olive oil. The pool bar contains extra bottles of The Supernatural and other beverages for purchase.

There is an abundance of local food producers and suppliers and most will gladly offer you recipe and menu suggestions. Millar Road is perfectly set up for cooking and entertaining with fully-equipped kitchens, gas barbeques and all the crockery, cutlery and potware you’ll ever need.

If you prefer to take it seriously easy, we can help you arrange catering – anything from a drop-off meal to a fully catered meal prepared and served in house.
